… But maybe the answer lies in fusion. At the Pitti W women’s display, ethereal nylon drapes, painted with vibrant images of fashion totems, drifted in a space dedicated to video displays of work from Polimoda, Florence’s fashion school, rejuvenated by its director, Linda Loppa.

“I’m entirely digital and we make the videos to give expression to what a student is doing, while the totem reflects the future of fashion — belonging to a tribal clan,” says Ms. Loppa, who has just set up a master’s in trend forecasting…
